Dr. Heaney [endocrinologist] The multiple subtypes of NETs require diversified care.
I think patients with neuroendocrine tumors should be managed by a multidisciplinary team because "neuroendocrine tumor" is not one disease—it's really a multitude of subtypes of diseases within this umbrella we call neuroendocrine tumor. What that means... is that the presentation, the symptoms, the signs, the treatments that we need to consider for these patients varies widely depending on the type of tumor, the site of tumor, the extent of disease, and the individual patient. It requires multiple skills from many disciplines to effectively manage these tumors and to offer the best standard of care for the patients.
